Our RED Saffron- Sargol ( Top of the flower- Autumn crocus) is made up of red stigmas which have been professionally cut and separated from the flower prior to drying, resulting in the highest quality saffron threads available. It has an Earthy Aroma with a nuanced flavour yet sweet. In small doses, saffron has a subtle taste and aroma and pairs well with savory dishes, such as paella, risottos, and other rice dishes.
Why is Persian Sargol Saffron so special?
The term Sargol simply translates to ‘top of the flower’. This particular type of saffron can be recognized by the rich scarlet red of its thread. Sargol saffron is made up of red stigmas which have been cut and separated before drying. Stigmas cut this way provide maximum flavour, aroma, and natural dye in cooking and baking. It is also high in antioxidants and vitamins and minerals, among other different properties that make it very beneficial.
