What is Ylang Ylang Essential Oil?

Ylang Ylang essential oil has a sweet, floral aroma. This oil is extracted from the flowers by steam distillation. It is a common ingredient in perfumes, soaps, creams, lotions, and candles. Ylang Ylang essential oil is also known to have relaxing qualities, so it is used to treat nervous tension, stress, anxiety, and insomnia. This oil is very popular in aromatherapy for treating depression, anxiety, insomnia, tonifying the nervous system, and for lifting the spirits. Ylang Ylang is very beneficial for skin that is oily or acne-prone. This oil may be used to treat skin that is inflamed, rashes, acne, and burns. Botanically, Ylang Ylang is known as Cananga odorata and belongs to the Annonaceae family. It is a perennial tropical plant and heightens up to 20 meters having big and tender leaves. The tree bears flowers that range from pink to yellow or mauve in color. Ylang Ylang Oil is considered a crown jewel and is extra prized for its wonderful floral notes.  This tropical species is native to countries surrounding the Indian Ocean, such as India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and parts of Australia.

  • Put 1-2 drops on hanky/wrist/cotton balls.
  • Add 8-10 drops in warm water bucket.
  • Use 5-6 drops in the diffuser.
  • Dilute 1-2 drops and apply on the desired area. Can add in any crème/lotion for cosmetic application.
  • Dilute 8-10 drops, massage problem area/whole body.
